Expert roundup: Why North Korea flexed long-range missile might at latest parade

Analysts say ICBM-heavy event sends clear message to US, but question whether Kim Jong Un has named daughter his heir

North Korea carried out a large-scale military parade on Wednesday celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Korean People’s Army (KPA), using the opportunity to unveil a seemingly new type of solid-fuel long-range missile as thousands of soldiers goose-stepped through Kim Il Sung Square.

Experts say the new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) could dramatically increase the speed at which the country can launch nuclear warheads in the case of war.
