South Korea’s spy agency has concluded former North Korean foreign minister Ri Yong Ho was demoted in recent years but cannot confirm whether he was executed, lawmakers briefed by the agency said Wednesday.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) shared the assessment in a closed-door briefing after a Japanese newspaper reported on Tuesday that Ri, who has not appeared in public for years, was executed sometime last year.
