A private South Korean organization recently sent a government-sponsored humanitarian package to North Korea, the unification ministry said Thursday, the first known aid shipment under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
The announcement comes after top North Korean officials and state media have for months criticized the Yoon administration’s so-called audacious initiative that involves assistance for the DPRK. The DPRK has rejected multiple offers of aid from the South since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
