North Korea fired around 100 artillery shells in two bursts toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Tuesday, South Korea’s military announced, after the DPRK military said in an earlier statement that it had ordered an artillery test for the second consecutive day to deliver a “strong warning” to South Korea.
In a statement released through Voice of Korea (VOK), the Korean People’s Army (KPA) General Staff said it “immediately ordered frontline artillery units to fire artillery into the sea” after detecting military activity in the South. The ROK kicked off its latest multi-day military exercises on Monday.
