North Korean foreign minister Choe Son Hui warned on Thursday that Pyongyang will make a stronger military response if the U.S. strengthens “extended deterrence” with South Korea and Japan.
Her statement, released through the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), specifically criticized Sunday’s trilateral summit, during which the three countries’ leaders called for “a strong and resolute response from the international community” to any North Korean nuclear test.
