North Korea launched a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) from the Sunan area of Pyongyang toward the East Sea in the early hours of Friday morning in an apparent test, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
The DPRK also conducted a night-time air exercise and fired artillery near the inter-Korean border before and after the missile launch, JCS said, leading South Korea to scramble jets in response, including the stealth F-35. Meanwhile, Pyongyang accused Seoul overnight of conducting "provocative" artillery drills of their own near the border.
