The launch announced by Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) marks the North’s first missile test in two weeks and comes as the South Korean military wraps up its two-week Hoguk Exercises, which U.S. armed forces also participated in. JCS said the missiles were fired at 11:59 a.m. and 12:18 p.m. KST from Thongchon County on the east coast, which lies around 35 miles (60 km) from the inter-Korean border. North Korea fires missiles toward East Sea in first test in two weeks: JCS

North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea around midday Friday, according to the South Korean military.

The launch announced by Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) marks the North’s first missile test in two weeks and comes as the South Korean military wraps up its two-week Hoguk Exercises, which U.S. armed forces also participated in.

JCS said the missiles were fired at 11:59 a.m. and 12:18 p.m. KST from Thongchon County on the east coast, which lies around 35 miles (60 km) from the inter-Korean border. The missiles flew a maximum distance of around 143
