Moon government hid evidence on North Korea’s killing of ROK official: Auditors

Defense ministry deleted files on Lee Dae-jun’s 2020 death after multiple agencies botched response, new report alleges

The Moon Jae-in administration manipulated and even concealed evidence during an investigation into the shooting death of a government official at the hands of North Korean soldiers in late 2020, state auditors conclude in a new report.

The Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) presented its findings after a monthslong investigation of the Ministry of Defense (MND), the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Korea Coast Guard (KCG).
