The U.S. and South Korea will convene a high-level military working group to discuss deterrence against North Korea later this month, the first such meeting in almost five years, Seoul’s foreign ministry announced Thursday.
U.S. President Joe Biden and ROK President Yoon Suk-yeol agreed to resume the Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group (EDSCG) during their summit meeting in May, after the allies suspended the working group that Pyongyang has frequently denounced to support diplomacy in 2018.
