North Korea adopts ‘crucial’ farm policy weeks after warning of food shortages

State media short on details about policy as Kim Jong Un skips Politburo meeting for second straight time

Top North Korean officials discussed a “crucial” new agricultural policy at a Politburo meeting on Sunday, according to state media, two weeks after leader Kim Jong Un referenced continuing food shortages.

The brief Rodong Sinmun report on Monday was short on details and did not say precisely what the new policy is, and Kim did not attend the Politburo meeting for the second time in a row.
