A South Korean navy sailor threatened the country’s national security by distributing pro-North Korea material, prosecutors say, with the servicemember now facing potential prison time or steep fines for violating the National Security Act.
The 21-year-old conscript in South Korea’s Second Fleet was indicted on July 25 according to court documents provided to NK News by People Power Party lawmaker Kang Dae-sik. The Navy’s Prosecutor’s Office put the sailor on trial for praising the North Korean political system and possessing materials "benefiting the enemy."
