North Korean appeals 13-year sentence to Russian penal colony for 2019 attack
Fisherman was one of two sentenced to time for attack on Russian coast guard, and case will now go to higher court

A North Korean fisherman convicted of assaulting members of the Russian coast guard has appealed his 13-year sentence to a penal colony, a spokeswoman for the Primorsky Regional Court confirmed to NK News on Monday.
The appeal came just one week after the Vladivostok court found 12 North Korean fishermen guilty of attacking the Russian coast guard while illegally squid fishing in the East Sea in Sept. 2019.
