Top U.S. officials on Wednesday condemned North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launch as a violation of multiple U.N. Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, while not ruling out the possibility of deploying additional missile defense systems to South Korea.
During a regular press briefing, State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said Wednesday’s launch demonstrates how North Korea’s weapons programs “pose a threat to peace and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific,” adding that the U.S. continues to engage Chinese counterparts even though Beijing has been less forceful about rebuking Pyongyang’s missile tests.
