North Korean leader Kim Jong Un planted “memorial trees” in Pyongyang on Wednesday to celebrate Tree-planting Day, state media reported on Thursday, in a hands-on event in support of the country’s ongoing reforestation campaign.
Kim said the trees’ roots allow them to withstand any storm, not unlike the “deep roots” the ruling party has among the North Korean people, according to the state-run Rodong Sinmun and Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
