North Korea fired one “ballistic missile” towards the East Sea on Saturday morning, detected at 08:48 KST from the Sunan area near Pyongyang, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The JCS said the missile had a flight range of around 168 miles (270 km) and reached an altitude of 348 miles (560 km). 

“It seems like North Korea did another suborbital launch for a satellite test,” Ankit Panda, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’s Nuclear Policy Program, told NK News, describing it as an “odd” test judging from the preliminary details.
