With South Korea’s next presidential election less than a month away, frontrunners Yoon Suk-yeol and Lee Jae-myung have continued to engage in a heated public disagreement on North Korea issues.
In a second televised debate on Friday, the two were even unable to agree on the status of the Korean War. The progressive Lee said the war ended for all intents and purposes, while acknowledging the role of the United Nations Command (UNC) to “manage the armistice,” but the conservative Yoon argued that this was a dangerous interpretation of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula.
