North Korean leader Kim Jong Un convened the first day of a party plenary meeting on Monday, according to state media. The meeting is expected to produce significant foreign and domestic policy announcements and stretch across multiple days.
Kim and top officials will "discuss and decide on strategic and tactical policies and tasks for action" in order to take "the next step" of national development, according to the Rodong Sinmun on Tuesday, adding that they will "review the state of the implementation of major Party and state policies for the year 2021."
