China urges US to acknowledge North Korea’s ‘denuclearization measures’

Beijing says DPRK’s ‘legitimate concerns’ have not been addressed and calls on US to engage Pyongyang diplomatically

China’s foreign ministry said North Korea has taken “denuclearization measures” and urged the U.S. to re-engage with Pyongyang, days after Beijing and Moscow sent a joint proposal to the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) seeking DPRK sanctions relief.

“China believes the crux of the Peninsula issue lies in the fact that the denuclearization measures the DPRK has taken have not won due attention, and the country's legitimate concerns have not received due response,” Wang said at a daily press briefing on Tuesday.
