China expands manhunt for escaped North Korean prisoner, ups bounty to $110,000

Daring prison break has caught the attention of Chinese social media as convict Ju Hyon Gon remains on the lam

Chinese authorities are expanding their search for a North Korean man who escaped prison last month, raising the reward to $110,000 for information leading to his arrest, according to police in the border city of Dandong.

Ju Hyon Gon, 39, reportedly crossed into China in 2013 before robbing and stabbing a woman. He was arrested and imprisoned in Jilin Province, which borders North Korea farther east, and was set for release and deportation back to the DPRK in 2023.
