EU open to video talks with North Korea after diplomats withdraw from meetings

In interview, chief of EU parliament’s Korea delegation emphasizes its role as ‘facilitator’ for denuclearization talks

The European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Korean Peninsula (DKOR) is open to video talks with North Korean diplomats after they withdrew from EU-related meetings in Brussels, the chair of the delegation told NK News on Monday.

Two mid-ranking diplomats from the DPRK Embassy in Germany had planned to participate in the meetings this month, which would have marked the DPRK foreign ministry’s first dispatch of a delegation to the Belgian capital during the COVID-19 pandemic. But they canceled without providing an explanation.
