China frees two Canadian men accused of spy activities

Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig released hours after Huawei exec reaches deal with US prosecutors

Michael Spavor, a Canadian citizen and DPRK consultant, was freed from detention in China and is on his way back home, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Friday.

Speaking to reporters at a late night press conference, Trudeau said that Michael Spavor, along with former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig, was released from detention after more than two and a half years.
