The United Nations has extended a sanctions exemption for an international medical mission organization, greenlighting shipments of textbooks as well as medical equipment within the next year, according to the U.N. website.
SAM Care International, a nongovernmental organization (NGO) that conducts medical aid work at a hospital in the North Korean capital and in the China-North Korea border city of Dandong, made the request for an exemption on Aug. 2, according to a letter uploaded by the U.N. Security Council’s (UNSC) 1718 sanctions committee.
