North Koreans working at their country’s Madrid embassy when anti-DPRK activist group Free Joseon raided the compound in 2019 said the group’s members assaulted and forcibly detained them while stealing materials, according to U.S. federal court evidence released last Friday.
The claims -- which date from 2019 but were made available in a more unredacted form at the end of last week -- contradict testimony from Free Joseon members in many areas that the embassy break-in was nonviolent and was done in order to facilitate a defection under the guise of an invasion and kidnapping.
