North Korean state media warned domestic readers on Tuesday that COVID-19 vaccines cannot be trusted to be effective for the “next few years,” as the country awaits delivery of vaccines from abroad and its borders remain almost completely shut to the outside world.
“The vaccines that are currently being distributed may not be able to protect people from the virus spreading or new strains of the virus after all as experts are warning that COVID-19 will continue to evolve for the next few years,” the party-run Rodong Sinmun reported on June 8.
