North Korean leader Kim Jong Un resumed the tradition of visiting his grandfather’s mausoleum on the April 15 Day of the Sun holiday, according to state media on Friday, coming one year after speculation mounted over health issues when he skipped the visit for the first time since coming to power.
Kim was shown visiting the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on Thursday with only a small group of his most trusted officials, as well as his wife Ri Sol Ju for the first time. He was also joined by his sister Kim Yo Jong, his apparent event coordinator Hyon Song Wol, and two of his most trusted officials Jo Yong Won and Pak Jong Chon, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
