South Korea’s minister of defense apologized to his country on Wednesday after the military failed to quickly apprehend yet another man crossing the border from North Korea.
The man — an apparent defector — is thought to have swum from North Korea through the East Sea for roughly six hours on Tuesday before emerging on the South Korean side of Gangwon province and traveling through a drain, according to defense minister Suh Wook, who spoke at the National Assembly on Wednesday.
