North Korean leader Kim Jong Un railed against corruption in the country’s ruling party at a large political meeting last weekend, state media reported on Monday, in a speech that experts say could foreshadow future efforts to maintain top-down order in a political system where bribery is rampant.
The “abuse of power” at all political levels in the Workers’ Party of Korea was thrust to the top of the agenda on Sunday at a plenary meeting (or “plenum”) held on the sidelines of the DPRK’s ongoing Eighth Party Congress.
