U.S. forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a target meant to represent an intercontinental ballistic missile during a flight test demonstration northeast of Hawaii on Tuesday.
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and U.S. Navy boarded a destroyer equipped with an Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) system and destroyed the ICBM-representative target by launching a SM-3 Block IIA guided missile, according to an MDA release.
