Son of border shooting victim says South Korea ‘failed’ to protect his father

The family of a South Korean government worker who was killed by DPRK soldiers calls for evidence of a defection

The teenage son of a South Korean government worker who was shot and killed by North Korean military officers in September is now accusing the presidential Blue House of “failing” to protect his father and tarnishing his name.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, family members of the victim — a 47-year-old Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries employee named Lee Dae-jun — demanded that the South Korean Ministry of National Defense (MND) disclose evidence to support its claim that the incident was a defection gone wrong.
