North Korea introduces strict currency exchange restrictions for foreigners

New rules mean diplomats can only exchange $100 a day per person

North Korean authorities on Thursday imposed strict new restrictions on how much money foreigners living in the capital can exchange each day, also limiting the locations currency exchanges are possible to just one.

The development comes amid growing economic problems and the state's recent commencement of an 80-day productivity "battle," ostensibly designed to bolster the nation's flailing economic performance.
