U.S. presidential candidate Joe Biden vowed to “keep pressing toward a denuclearized North Korea” and to help reunite separated families in an op-ed published in Yonhap News Agency on Friday. 

The article — supposedly the first of its kind to be published in a South Korean media outlet during an election year — comes just days before the Nov. 3 national vote and briefly discusses the Korean Peninsula’s ongoing division.

In the article, Biden promises to “stand with South Korea” and also accuses U.S. President Donald Trump of “extorting Seoul” by repeatedly threatening to withdraw U.S. troops from the peninsula.
