Singaporean national Chong ‘Richard’ Hock Yen – listed as a director of three companies in Singapore – admitted to authorities on Thursday that he had illegally supplied almost $580,000 of luxury goods to North Korea, local media said.
The 60-year-old was one of the suppliers of the notorious Bugsae Shop in Pyongyang, which NK Pro investigation in 2017 exclusively revealed was selling large quantities of imported Singaporean luxury goods to affluent North Korean customers. U.N. sanctions have prohibited exports of luxury goods to the DPRK since 2006.
