North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered the unprecedented, overnight broadcasts aired during the country’s recent run-in with multiple typhoons, according to the director of the DPRK’s primary state-run television station.
Korean Central Television (KCTV) aired warnings, weather forecasts and even on-the-ground reports from areas affected by the storms overnight -- well past the usual 10:30 p.m. signoff time. The TV station aired these around-the-clock broadcasts before and during the three typhoons that hit North Korea starting in late August.
