South Korea will develop an Iron Dome-style artillery interceptor system to protect strategic assets that fall within the reach of North Korea's long-range artillery, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) detailed in a new report on Monday.
The goal, which was revealed in the MND's defense blueprint for 2021 to 2025, will see the ROK develop an indigenous version of the sophisticated Iron Dome system — developed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the wake of Hezbollah's bombardment of Israel in the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
