North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has sent ¥216.6 million ($2.01 million) in "educational aid funds and stipends" to Korean children in pro-Pyongyang schools in Japan, state media reported on Tuesday.
The aid comes ahead of the country's annual celebrations of the Day of the Sun, which marks the birthday of North Korea's founding President Kim Il Sung.
