Trump administration punishes two Chinese nationals for North Korean cybercrimes

After DPRK hacked cryptocurrency exchanges, two Chinese nationals allegedly laundered $100 million for North Korea

The Trump administration took multiple punitive actions against two Chinese nationals for helping North Korea launder more than $100 million in stolen cryptocurrency funds, the U.S. Justice and Treasury Departments announced on Monday.

The actions -- federal criminal charges, a civil forfeiture filing to reclaim millions of stolen dollars, and new sanctions designations that blacklist the two Chinese nationals from the U.S. financial system -- come as Washington and Pyongyang remain locked in a months-long diplomatic stalemate that has shown no obvious signs of ending anytime soon.
