Office buildings and residences in several parts of Pyongyang have been repainted en masse into white and light pastel colors, recently obtained photos seen by NK News show.

Changes could be observed throughout eastern Pyongyang, August and September photos from the city’s Juche Tower showed, while recent buildings near the Reunification Monument were also repainted into a new white/pastel color combination.

The repainting of the buildings – from bright shades of pink, yellow, blue and green – is apparently part of an effort to make the city look more sophisticated, an informed source told NK News.
