Dandong airport set to reopen as Liaoning province eyes further links to N. Korea

Move could attract tourists seeking cross-border day trips, faster train journey to Pyongyang

An airport serving the Sino-DPRK border city of Dandong is set to reopen at the end of January following an eight-month closure, a travel industry source confirmed to NK News on Tuesday.

The airport, known in English as Dandong Langtao Airport (DDG), was first shut on May 20 last year for a “runway overhaul,” and was originally expected to reopen in November, according to an official notice released at the time.
