MDA successfully tests jointly produced U.S. – Japan interceptor

Improved interceptor could provide additional defense capabilities for North Korean missiles

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on Tuesday successfully tested a new interceptor that will eventually be deployed to Japanese and U.S. naval forces.

The test took place from the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense Test Complex (AAMDTC) at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) at Kauai, Hawaii and marked the system's second successful consecutive trial.
