UN emergency fund approves USD$6.72 million for humanitarian efforts in N. Korea

Over half of funds to go towards tuberculosis treatment efforts, CERF says

The UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) on Monday approved USD$6.72 million in “underfunded emergency” funding to three UN organizations, according to the CERF website.

Receiving the bulk of the new funds at USD$3.478 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) will see a much-needed boost for tuberculosis treatment efforts, which lost a major source of funding earlier this year with the Global Fund's surprise withdrawal from DPRK operations.
