S. Korea’s spy agency to relinquish domestic anti-communist investigative powers

NIS will no longer investigate violations of National Security Act's "praise and incitement" clause

The South Korean spy agency on Wednesday unveiled plans to abrogate and delegate its anti-communist investigative powers.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) said in a report that it has been pushing ahead with a “full-scale revision” of the laws governing its operations, saying the “elimination of accumulated evils” is almost finished.
