N. Korean ferry arrived in Russia with 34 safety deficiencies

Infractions include fire safety, navigation, structural issues and "life-saving appliances"

North Korea's Mangyongbong ferry, which began running a regular route between Rason and Vladivostok in May, arrived in Russia with 34 safety deficiencies, inspection records show.

The North Korean-flagged ship has been running a weekly passenger and cargo route from the DPRK's northeastern port to nearby Russia, but the ship was built in 1971 and, before May, had been used infrequently since the 90s.
