Seoul affirms commitment to full THAAD deployment

South Korean government has "no intention" of reneging on U.S.-ROK agreement

A South Korean government official on Friday reaffirmed his government's commitment to the full deployment of the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system on the Korean peninsula in a statement to press at the Blue House.

Speaking two days after South Korea announced it would delay the THAAD deployment until an “environmental assessment” can be carried out on the site, Chung Eui-yong, the head of the government's National Security Office (NSO), said that Seoul would not seek to reverse the decision made by the previous administration.
