UN removes 5 North Korea-linked ships from blacklist

Vessels previously tied to arms smuggling Ocean Maritime Management (OMM)

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has lifted sanctions on five North Korea-linked ships, according to a press release issued over the weekend.

The ships were removed from a blacklist published in March this year as part of UN Resolution 2270. This is the second time the UNSC has deregistered vessels, which were originally added based on their links to Ocean Maritime Management (OMM), a North Korean shipping company which attempted to smuggle weapons through the Panama Canal.
