Park affirms ties with U.S., S. Korean markets react to Trump election

South should be prepared for "big changes", including defense burden sharing, Minjoo Party says

South Korean President Park Geun-hye on Wednesday called on the South Korean government to step up cooperation with new U.S. administration as early as possible amid growing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Park said the South Korean government should come up with detailed plans to further reinforce bilateral relations after Donald J. Trump won the U.S. presidential election on Wednesday.
