Chinese experts cast doubt on North Korea sanctions

Different long-term goals between China, U.S, South Korea have delayed UN Resolution

Chinese experts on Thursday cast doubt on the effectiveness of UN sanctions against North Korea as a method of achieving the country's denuclearization.

Speaking at the third South Korea - China academic conference on policy held at Ajou University, Yang Xiyu, Senior Fellow at China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), said the North's nuclear program is not only an issue of development or abandonment, but rather a matter of "national survival."
