N.Korean defectors protest S.Korea’s human rights policy

Defectors should be treated as a “partner” in preparation for the era of unification, expert says

Hundreds of North Korean defectors on Monday held protests voicing their opposition to South Korea’s unilateral implementation of the new North Korean human rights law.

A coalition of around 30 defector groups argued that the Ministry of Unification (MoU) had manipulated North Korean human rights law for its own benefit and had “totally ignored” the defectors.
