The United Nations Command based in South Korea began an operation on Friday to enforce armistice regulations on vessels – particularly Chinese fishing boats – in the Han River Estuary, USFK announced in a press release.
The operation was authorized by U.S. Army General Vincent K. Brooks, commander of United States Forces Korea and United Nations Command (UNC) since April 30. The operation was executed by vessels and personnel of the Republic of (South) Korea Navy and Coast Guard as well as personnel representing the military armistice commission of the UNC.
