Five-party talks on N.Korea won’t work: former MoU advisor

S. Korea is no longer the ‘persuasive messenger’ between U.S. and N. Korea

The South Korean president's suggestion of five-party talks, excluding North Korea but including its former negotiating partners, won’t successfully counteract the North's nuclear threats, a South Korean observer told NK News.

Last Friday, while reviewing major governmental bodies’ 2016 operational plans, President Park Geun-hye proposed five-party talks between Washington, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul, much like the Six-Party Talks on North Korea’s nuclear program but excluding Pyongyang itself.
