A South Korean activist has announced plans to row all the way to North Korea, inviting people to join him.

Wesuck Kang created his Facebook event, called “Shall we go to North Korea?” on Thursday. The trip was to take place Saturday in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Korea Peninsula’s independence from Japan.

When the South Korean Park Geun-hye administration declared that this Friday, the day before the anniversary, would be a provisional public holiday, many people probably looked into vacation options.

Kang thought otherwise.

“Marking the 70th anniversary of independence, the whole nation seems to be in
